Interfacing ET - Who Speaks for Humanity in the Contact Scenario?
This presentation will examine the ever more imminent scenario of contact with off-planet intelligent entities and ask who will have or rather who should have the communications priority which in turn will impact and catalyse geopolitical shifts in the decades to follow.
Exopolitics examines contact under two main strands - track one as being constructed of more formal government and military political structures and track two which is seen as the civilian approach to communication with these visiting ‘Others’. In the post National Security State epoch, both of these vectors have had impact on communication but so far in an ‘un-disclosed’ or informal manner. This talk will ask who benefits from a primarily military [ie: non-transparent] scenario and what struggles may appear if a primarily citizen route to contact and diplomacy is pushed for.
David Griffin will present "Interfacing ET - Who Speaks for Humanity in the Contact Scenario?" on Friday 5th August 2011 at the Leeds Exopolitics Expo.
