UFOs

Proto-UFOs and Alien Manifestation Lecture Transcript

I recently gave a talk in Glastonbury on the subject of UFOs. This came about at Glastonbury Symposium thanks to Andy Thomas who invited me to speak at their 2016 event. I would also like to thank Dave Hodrien of the Birmingham UFO Group for initially inviting me to speak on this topic in 2015 for his Birmingham UFO Group; a talk that evolved into this version written up here.

24th July 2016 - A talk by Anthony Beckett at the Glastonbury Symposium #ufos

Presentation:  Proto-UFOs and Alien Manifestation

Anthony will look at the dichotomy inherent within the UFO phenomenon. On one hand, we have the scientific data that demonstrates without a shadow of a doubt the physical reality of UFO phenomena and their physical, temporal and spatial characteristics.

Then, on the other hand, we have the human UFO experience itself; a comprehensive study of which will lead any investigator to recognise that the challenge that we face with this phenomenon is our very notion of consciousness itself.

Somewhere between these two edifices lies the reality of a phenomenon whose influence has been so pervasive as to be rendered nearly invisible; yet it reaches every human being in its influence on human culture – and it does so regardless of the true nature of that reality.

Lecture: UFOs & The Music Industry by Dave Hodrien

In this fascinating, lively and fun talk Dave will look into how the subject of Ufology has been portrayed by the music industry. He will go into the history of UFO-themed music and discuss a number of bands who are entirely themed on the subject, as well as many others who have been influenced by UFOs and aliens. He will also cover a number of musicians who have had sightings and contact experiences of their own. The talk includes many audio clips as well as music videos and an exclusive recorded interview, so get ready for a tuneful time!

UK National Archives Final UFO Files released

The final tranche of UFO files released by The National Archives contain a wide range of UFO-related documents, drawings, letters, and photos and parliamentary questions covering the final two years of the Ministry of Defence's UFO Desk (from late 2007 until November 2009).

Discover the reasons behind the closure of the UFO desk, the handling of the largest number of UFO sighting reports received in 30 years and the disclosure campaign for ‘the truth’, which was sparked by the closure of the UFO Desk.

"Proto-UFOs and Alien Manifestation" by Anthony Beckett

"One theory which can no longer be taken very seriously is that UFOs are
interstellar spaceships." – Arthur C. Clarke, New York Times book review, 27 July 1975

The only unexplained phenomena I have been witness to was a sighting of an orange ball of light seen one night for only a few seconds from my parent’s home in Steeton, West Yorkshire. The light, I can best describe as flickering like a bonfire-night sparkler, was high up at an azimuth of about 20 degrees in the sky in the direction towards Chelker Reservoir near Skipton.

It was a sighting of a single orb that was perhaps similar to two orange balls of light photographed by Police Sergeant Tony Dodd only a few miles away and it could perhaps have been the same type of phenomenon. The photograph, shown in the UK Ministry of Defence report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP), known as the Condign Report where it states that it is a photograph of Earthlights or possibly ball-lightning taken on Carlton Moor near Skipton.

"Alias Salt and Green and the Triangular UFOs" by Steve Mera

On February 8th of 1996 I was travelling back from a friend’s house in Old Trafford, Manchester when I saw something strange in the sky. Some unusual lights shot backwards and forwards before disappearing. I watched the lights for a minute or so before they simply vanished, as if they had simply turned off like a light bulb.

On arriving home I informed my partner and she told me that a neighbour had called round to tell her that Talk Radio were talking live to four students near Old Trafford Cricket ground who had apparently seen an unusual object in the sky. By the time I had turned the radio on and tuned into the right station I had missed the on air interviews. So, I went off to bed with the thought of contacting Manchester International Airport in the morning.

UFOs: Belief or Proof? By Grant Cameron

“For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don’t believe, no proof is possible.”
– Stuart Chase

Everyone in society today has heard of UFOs and the possibility that this phenomenon may represent the arrival on earth of extraterrestrials, advanced spiritual beings, or beings from another dimension.

Everyone inside the UFO research field is also aware that there is a strong skeptical group of scientists that are determined to crush any conclusion that UFO represent anything outside the random physical world view.

Their major counter to UFO researcher claims that UFOs represent something non-local and separate from the physical world view is usually summed up with the expression, “There is no conclusive evidence that proves the UFO claim."

This sets up a high mountain for Ufology to climb because the skeptics are dogmatically hard liners in their religious world view that everything is physical. They are riveted with fear, like a small child on his bed in the dark, waiting for the bogeyman man under the bed to reach out and grab him.
